The Listeners

The Listeners is a feature documentary about a global network of listening stations built to detect nuclear explosions, and the ordinary people who keep it running.

The same microphones waiting for a nuclear test also catch whales singing, meteors entering the atmosphere, and elephants speaking across the dark. Through the listeners and their landscapes, the film holds the Cold War's ghosts and the planet's hidden sounds in one frame.

The project is in development with support from Netherlands Film Fund. We have secured access to locations across several countries and early co-production and distribution interest in Norway and Denmark.

We are currently seeking a majority production partner in the Netherlands or Denmark for the long haul: the right collaborators to make this film with.
